Top 10 Baby-Friendly Restaurants in Barcelona

Finding a restaurant in Barcelona that genuinely welcomes babies — not just tolerates them — can be tricky. Many of the best spots are hidden in residential neighbourhoods, known only to local families.

We've tested these with our own kids and with feedback from hundreds of rental customers. Every restaurant on this list has highchairs, is stroller-accessible, and serves food that adults actually want to eat.

    1. Flax & Kale (Eixample)

A health-focused restaurant with a beautiful terrace. The menu is 80% plant-based with excellent fish and chicken options. They have proper highchairs (not the wobbly wooden kind), a relaxed atmosphere, and a children's menu that goes beyond nuggets and chips.

Best for: Weekend brunch with a baby. The terrace is ideal for strollers.

    2. La Pepita (Gràcia)

A neighbourhood tapas bar that locals adore. It's casual, reasonably priced, and the staff are genuinely friendly to families. The bread with tomato (pa amb tomàquet) is some of the best in the city — perfect finger food for weaning babies.

Best for: A relaxed lunch or early dinner. Go before 14:00 or after 20:30 to avoid the queue.

    3. Honest Greens (Multiple Locations)

A healthy fast-casual chain with locations across Barcelona. The food is fresh, the spaces are bright and open, and there's always room for a stroller. Order at the counter, so there's no pressure if your baby has a meltdown and you need to leave quickly.

Best for: A quick, healthy lunch when you're mid-sightseeing and need something reliable.

    4. El Nacional (Passeig de Gràcia)

A stunning food hall inside a beautifully restored Art Nouveau building. Four restaurants under one roof (seafood, tapas, meat, and a bar), so everyone finds something they want. The space is enormous — strollers are no problem.

Best for: A special lunch out. The space is so big and buzzy that baby noise disappears into the atmosphere.

    5. Can Paixano (La Xampanyeria) (Barceloneta)

A legendary cava bar near the beach. It's standing-room only, loud, and chaotic — which makes it oddly perfect for families. Nobody notices a crying baby when there are 200 people clinking glasses. The cava is dirt cheap and the sandwiches are excellent.

Best for: A pre-beach snack. Not ideal for a long sit-down meal, but perfect for a quick bite.

    6. Cervecería Catalana (Eixample)

One of Barcelona's best tapas restaurants. It's always busy (expect a short wait), but the tapas are consistently outstanding. They have highchairs and the staff handle families with practised ease.

Best for: Your one splurge tapas meal. The patatas bravas and croquetas are essential.

    7. Pudding (Gràcia)

A café designed around families. There's a small play area for toddlers, the menu is kid-friendly without being boring, and they serve excellent coffee and cakes. It can get busy on weekend mornings.

Best for: A morning coffee when you need your toddler to be entertained for 45 minutes.

    8. La Mar Salada (Barceloneta)

A sit-down seafood restaurant a block from the beach. The paella is excellent and they have a proper children's menu. The terrace is perfect for strollers and the staff bring colouring materials for older toddlers.

Best for: A post-beach lunch with good paella.

    9. Federal Café (Gòtic / Sant Antoni)

A brunch-focused café with Australian-style food. The Sant Antoni location has more space and is easier with a stroller. Great coffee, excellent avocado toast, and a relaxed weekend brunch atmosphere.

Best for: Weekend brunch. The portions are generous.

    10. Maná 75 (Sagrada Familia area)

A cosy neighbourhood restaurant near the Sagrada Familia with a real family feel. Catalan home cooking at honest prices. The owner loves kids and will likely come over to make your baby smile.

Best for: A genuine local experience away from the tourist restaurants.

General Tips for Eating Out with a Baby in Barcelona

    • Lunch is the main meal — restaurants are set up for long lunches between 13:30 and 15:30. This is often the best time for families.
    • Dinner is late — most restaurants don't open for dinner until 20:30 or 21:00. For families, eating at 20:00 usually means you'll have the place almost to yourself.
    • Bring a clip-on highchair if you want guaranteed seating for your baby. Not every restaurant has one. We rent the Inglesina Fast, which clips to any standard table.
    • Terrace seating is almost always available and makes life easier with a stroller.
